Week 3: Session 2

By this point I have done a good amount of research into my chosen topic and have been looking into existing poster designs and work of artists models for inspiration. I talked to Lee today and he liked one of my ideas to use the Unilever logo and re-design it to give it a whole new message.
I am finding it difficult to translate my idea into a clever design but am working on it so I have four designs to show for next weeks interim presentation.

Week 3: Session 1

Today we put ourselves into table groups, aiming to have people doing the same social concept sharing ideas. At this point I am still researching and finding images to inspire me and spark ideas. I do know that I want to do superstores so I'm beginning with the obvious research first, hoping it will lead me into a more narrowed down concept.

Week 2: Session 2

Today we carried on our group discussions and had the opportunity to have one on ones with a tutor to talk over our ideas so far. I was still a bit unsure about where I'm heading with my concept and how to communicate it through design, so talking with a tutor and other students helped spark ideas. We did exercises based around substitution/addition, juxtaposition and pastiche. After class I continued with my research and printed off examples.

Week 2: Session 1

I was absent for week one sessions one and two as I arrived back late from holiday, so week two I was introduced to the brief. We had a short lecture looking over and dissecting existing designs based around social issues. We spoke in groups about what issue we had chosen or were considering communicating for our poster. After hearing others points of view and conceptual ideas I decided I was leaning more towards mega-stores as my societal issue to communicate. Social media was a close runner-up.
